While in the throws of college finals, you can hardly breath. A bit of encouragement was needed so we decided to take advantage of our ever rare, Spring-time sunshine and pop on over to one of my favorite shops!
The British Pantry and Tea Room
We have two Brit shops in town, this is the larger one, and they have exactly what their name claims.
Up front you can pick up all sorts of British themed objects. T-shirts, hats, bags, candles, door mats, cups, pencils, figurines, maps and a lot more.
You can even strike up your own local British police force with their starter-pack!
After inquiring with the very kind, British shop owner, the teapots and cups you see are all that they have. A sad assortment for a collector and budding tea-party enthusiast like me. However, she did mention that since the demand has recently increased, in the near future she will be expanding her collection. So we wait!
However, there are lots of vintage teapot cozies to choose from, and miniature tea sets for little-girl's play time ❤
While the store is a bit commercialized upon entry, the Food Hall is but a pure delight for any British lover (such as my self) or the forlorn Brit terribly missing their home. Seeing the sheer mass of candy bars always sends me into a frenzie and feeling as giddy as a young girl in a great big candy shop.
They have all kinds, and its worth trying each...you know...to become more cultured and understanding of the pain our neighbors across the pond experience. I'm sure Brits, like their American counterparts, also have to wait in checkout lines at grocery stores and be tempted by rows of chocolates and goodies whilst mid diet. By savoring these goodies, you can bypass empathy and go straight to sympathy - a more concrete form of emotional understanding that assists you with connecting to grieving others. You think its hard to diet in America with all of our chocolates, get a load of Britain!
If you're a candy addict and looking to try something new, stop by here and ravager their supply!
Lets not forget the racks of bagged candies!
And of course on the other side of all the treats sit the real treats!
A whole assortment of British, Welsh and Scottish teas! Some of the best around!
And what goes better with tea than scones....
And clotted cream!
Complete with your jam toppers.
And all the other nibbly bits!
Though I must say, freshly baked, home-made scones and clotted cream beat the others any day! Recipes to come!
I peaked into the back were the tea room is, trying to be unobtrusive to the ladies already sat down and enjoying themselves. They have 5 tables and whole menu to choose from for any proper fancy you have.
While you cant choose your tea cup :(
You can choose a hat!
An experience definitely worth a try! Perfect for a Mother's Day outing or for a quick rest during your shopping bustle.
You can find The British Pantry in Old Colorado Springs.
Its quite a charmer of a place to be!
When satisfied, we trotted off with our treats in hand,
all the more ready to take on the world!
