Pikes Perk

Finals week seems longer than the whole semester in total, and it leaves you feeling drained and at your lowest as your trudged to your last assessment. By this time, Spring has blossomed, the rain has started to dance upon the greening grasses, and school is coming to a close. Summer adventure is in the air! But...... what's holding you back from streaking into the big-blue is that darn final exam. Getting through it can be a drag.

In need of some 'perking up' and seeking to avoid the stuffy, overly crowded university libraries, we headed to Pikes Perk Coffee and Tea House....

...where dreams came true upon finding this baby... a Lavender White Chocolate Frappe!

I've recently fallen in love with lavender drinks, and this was such a pleasant surprise!

It's a white chocolate lover's creamy dream with a light infusion of lavender flavor, but an explosion of it when you bite into the flower buds - something Pikes Perk is doing differently, and doing well!

At the counter they boldly tempt you with sweets for every tooth.

But they lured me in with the lemon squares...

...and I followed my heart!

It tasted just like the soft lemon cookies my teacher gave me while trying to learn my shapes as a young girl. For each one right, I got a cookie, so you can imagine how my geometry skills might have soared!

My study-mate chose a Mango Cream Italian Soda and highly recommends it too. It's like a fizzy creamsicle good enough to knock back in three gulps!

Pikes Perk has loads of options for both food and drinks. The burritos particularly have raving reviews.

My favorite part (of course!) is the plethora of exotic teas they have to choose from, a much broader selection than other coffee and tea shops in town.

And they have a mocha combo for about every addict out there.

The staff is amazingly friendly, and after having a sit-down with the owner, Marc, I found out that he really has a heart to provide the experience his customer's desire. He expressed that if there ever is a complaint, he is eager to meet, discuss it, and to find a solution. I feel that with every service in life, the product can be sub par, but if the staff makes you feel recognized and valued, you'll still find yourself walking right back in for more. I'm pleased to say that Pikes Perk has both the product and the service, leaving us very satisfied customers!

What's even more alluring about the shop is that they are invested in the community. As we studied 'till our eyeballs were sore, we found relief in the beautiful art hung all over the walls.

Local artists are invited to hang their works on display, bringing the new Spring life we so desperately are missing, thanks to school, into our make-shift study-hall.

Each piece comes with an artist card for contact and purchase.

I'm a firm believer in celebrating the fine arts, a necessary beauty in life that we so often neglect. I want to see a world where each human has a way to express their deepest and most passionate thoughts through avenues that fulfill and enrich their own upward mobility. And through each one's enrichment, I believe we all will be enriched.
“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time”. ~Thomas Merton
I'm joyed to see P.P. supporting our local artists. Art should be celebrated, not tucked away in a basement.

Pikes Perk is a great place for studying, meeting up with friend, or even for having meetings. The atmosphere is relaxed, casual, and inviting. Sink into their couches or enjoy the garage-style patio. It's right on point with our business-minded hipster community here in the Springs.

Or if you're looking for something fun to do, slide on over to their Facebook page where they have a whole slew of events they put on. From concerts, to dancing, to poetry, to painting, I'm sure you could find something that suits your fancy!

Where do you spend your time studying that makes you happy?
