A Picnic Dress

I'm so excited to go on picnics this summer! I've been stocking up on baskets and planning my sandwiches. The weather is getting peachier each day, and my legs more and more antsy. For the days I can't make my escape into the mountain sides for my grand plans, however, I've found myself a little dress to hold me over.

Ann Taylor has made the most fashionable picnic blanket around, and the best bit is that is comes with pockets!

Paired perfectly with a proper basket, of course, it's my best choice when I don't know what to wear in the summer. It clearly says that I'm ready for parks and watermelon munching!

All tied together with wooden sandals and hand made earrings from a local artist.

Long flowy dresses are such a beautiful way to bring out your femininity while covering a multitude of sins. They will protect you from Marilyn Monroe moments in the breezy summer days, cover up lazily unshaven legs, and provide a sort of blanket effect when laying in the prickly fields. Picking dresses with classic patterns, like this gingham one, will help you transition through the seasons and years. Bows, belts, anything that sinches at the waist and billows outward gives an instant womanly boost to your look. And a dress with pockets, well that's an instant purchase in my book.

I've discovered the pleasure of 100% cotton dresses this year. Along with other natural fibers like linen, silk, and wool, they're so breathable and help regulate a comfortable body temperature, they have a wonderful weight and durability to them, and  also make beautiful ripples in the wind! I can't recommended natural fibers enough. Want to know a secret? I got this number from the thrift store! Thrifting is definitely an underrated option for finding fashion and comfort, but if you don't want to drop hundreds of dollars, I suggest you give a peak through the thrift shops in your area. You never know the gems you might find!

What's been your favorite thing to wear this summer?
